Easter Newsletter

24th April 2013

Dear Parent,
Welcome to our newsletter which keeps you up-to-date with everything happening at St Luke's.

Firstly, apologies for the lack of newsletter this term.  As I'm sure you have all realised things have been a bit hectic with a few changes taking place.
Good Friday at St Luke's
Andrew Foulkes, the church's children and youth worker will be holding a family service for all ages on Good Friday.
Open Day
Ever wondered what your child gets up to whilst they are in our care?  Now you can come and find out.  Our annual open day will be on Saturday 8 June from 10.00 am to 2.00 pm.  It is a wonderful opportunity for parents to spend time with their child in the child's environment and learn more about what they enjoy whilst they are here.  Tea/coffee and cakes will be available.  Please tell all your friends and family as they are welcome too.
Staff Changes
During the hectic times we have been joined by Angela Manning who you may know better as Keira's mum.  Angela is a qualified teacher and we are very grateful for her help and advice.  Also Stacy Broadhead has joined the team on Thursdays.  Stacey has a level 3 diploma in child care and education and about to complete a foundation degree in children and families.

As you may have noticed Sadie will be going on maternity leave soon, therefore Becky has been made senior practitioner now, to become deputy manager when Sadie is on maternity leave.  We are currently looking for a practitioner to fill Becky's shoes.
Nursery Summer Concert
The summer concert - 'Rumble in the Jungle' - will be held at 10.00 am on the 11 July.  All nursery children will be taking part.  Please let a member of staff know if your child is not available on that day.
Opening Times and Contract Times
Can we please request that no one arrives at the nursery before 7.30 am.  We are not insured or registered to have children on the premises before this time and may not have completed our necessary safety checks.  Can I also ask parents to stick to their contract times unless they have made special arrangement, especially around 9.00 am.  The staff team do not arrive back from taking the school children until 9.00 am and therefore children who are not booked in until 9.00 am and are arriving early, even by 5 minutes, can cause problems with regard to child:adult ratio.  We arrange staffing as per the contracts that parents complete and therefore it is important to stick to the times agreed.
Jolfi Bear
Jolfi is a new addition to the nursery.  He loves to go on adventures and would love to join your child on theirs.  If you are going some where special then Jolfi would love to come with you.  He has already been a friend to one child who had to go into hospital, and joined two sisters on a special weekend to London.  Please speak to a member of staff if you think your nursery child would like Jolfi to come on an adventure with them.

Clothing
Can all parents of nursery children ensure their child has sensible in door shoes, such as plimsols, suitable for running and climbing in.  These should be kept in a bag on your childs peg.  Can you also please ensure that your child is dressed appropriately for the weather conditions of the day, whether that means boots, coats, gloves and scarf or sun hat and sun cream.  Please remember to name everything and keep it in a bag on your child peg, not on the floor please.
Changes to address and telephone numbers
Could all parents please remember that if you change address, home telephone number, mobile number or work telephone numbers you must inform the setting in case of emergency.
Access
Please do not let anyone have access to the setting, there may be reasons you are unaware of even if it is a parent your are familiar with.  Please get a member of staff to open the door.
Website and Facebook

Please do check out the nursery website and facebook for photos of what we have been up to and events coming up.
